The American Lanier Falcon is a large falcon remarkable for being the only representative in America of a group of falcons well known to inhabit the Old World. These birds can be distinguished by light-colored underside plumage and short curving beaks. Young birds from this subspecies was brought to California by Dr. Heerman and has taken up permanent residence in Western United States, including California and Oregon.
