This is a gorgeous composition of the very common deer portrayed in their natural environment. The lushness of the foliage is attributed to Victor Gifford Audubon, who was charged with the backgrounds of the majority of the scenes, while John Woodhouse acted as the senior Audubon's assistant and portrayed the mammals when his father was no longer well enough to.
