The Brown-headed Finch is also known as the rufous-crowned sparrow. It is a small American Sparrow. This passerine is primarily found across the Southwestern US and much of the interior of Mexico. These birds are often territorial, with males guarding their territory through song and displays. Flight is awkward for the species, which prefers to hop along the ground for movement. They are monogamous and breed during spring.
